As one of the oldest flowering cultivated plants, pistachios originally come from the Middle East; today, they are grown mainly in Arab and Oriental countries as well as the USA. Oh, and one more thing: the pistachio isn't actually a nut at all but a stone fruit. Stone fruits are so-called closing fruits, which surrounds their kernel with another wooden kernel.
