Both teas come from the same plant, Camellia sinensis; the difference lies in how the leaves are processed after harvest. Black tea is fully oxidised, creating a deeper, more robust flavour, while green tea is gently heated to preserve its fresh colour and lighter, slightly bitter notes. Our 60% green tea and 40% black tea blend brings the best of both worlds into one cup, resulting in a smooth, aromatic and subtly bitter taste that keeps every sip interesting.
A balanced green and black tea blend for everyday brewing and kombucha
This tea mix works perfectly as a classic daily brew: use around one teaspoon per cup (roughly 10g per litre), pour boiling water over it and steep for 2–4 minutes depending on how strong you like it. If you enjoy hands-on projects, the blend also makes an excellent base for homemade kombucha. Simply brew the tea, sweeten it, add a SCOBY culture and allow it to ferment into a refreshing, tangy drink. Tasteless redefined
However, my main evaluation refers to the taste.
Sure, the product description says "mild, subtly tart flavor," but even that was missing for me. I'm not sure if it was due to the short best-before date (3 months before expiry) or if the product was possibly stored incorrectly or dried incorrectly from the outset (as it already looked quite dry and the longer or more aggressive the drying process, the more aroma is lost), or if my palate is somewhat spoiled by other manufacturers or is used to more aromatic teas.
Either way, even with double the amount, 2 teaspoons instead of 1 teaspoon and 5 minutes instead of 2-4 minutes steeping time, the taste was so weak and bland that I might as well have just drunk hot water. The only hoped-for salvation, adding sugar and milk to give it a little more body, only helped to a limited extent.
I didn't want to use more than 2 teaspoons of tea, otherwise I would have caused an earthquake with my vibrations.
Unfortunately, the subtle nuances such as slightly fruity, fresh, lemony, earthy, or other nuances that characterize green and/or black tea were completely absent.
Unfortunately, it didn't matter whether I steeped the tea in a bag, strainer, or loose in the water.
For the price and quantity, you can give it a try, but I wouldn't recommend it, nor would I buy it again.
